PiterPy Meetup #8 in English

Петербург — европейский город. При этом почти весь айтишный движ в нём только на русском.
Вслед за PiterPy Conf мы решили посодействовать исправлению этой ситуации и проводим экспериментальный митап на английском языке.

St. Petersburg is an European city. But almost the whole tech events scene of it is hosted in Russian.

Following the example of PiterPy Conf we’re decided to help fixing this issue and so we’re doing experimental meetup in English.

"The limits of my language mean the limits of my world", said Ludwig Wittgenstein. Our thinking is shaped by our language and culture but it doesn’t take much to get out of the comfort zone and start taking inspiration from things around us — other languages, ideas, people, technology and nature. I’m going to give you a few anecdotal examples and hopefully inspire you as well.

Have you ever dreamed about creating your own programming language? Do you wonder from time to time how does autocomplete work in modern IDEs? I will show how with the tree-sitter library such a daunting task as writing a parser can suddenly become easy and straightforward. We will explore how Language Server Protocol allows you to add support for your own language in most modern editors and IDEs (VSCode, Sublime, JetBrains products) in just a day (your mileage may vary).
